Mylaboratoryisinterestedindevelopingsyntheticmethodologiesofsmallmoleculelibraries,naturalproducts,peptide/glycopeptidemimics,and“synergistictherapy”compounds.Itisalsointerestedinthedevelopmentofhighthroughputscreeningofchemicallibrariestounderstandthemolecularinteractions,codeanddecodethesmallmoleculesthatinterferethebiologicalactions.Thegoalsinthelabaretodiscoverandoptimizetheleadcompoundsanddevelopdrugcandidatestotreatoncologicalandinfectiousdiseases.
SuccessfulexampleincludesdrugcandidateF18,anaturecompound(CalanolideA)derivativeasNNRTIofHIV,isfullycharacterizedasadrugcandidateforclinicaltrial.Aconjugate(MTC-220)oftaxolandimmunemodulator(muramyldipeptide)mimicisdesignedasdisturbingthetumorinflammatorymicroenvironmentthatispreventingtumorgrowthandmetastasisinmice.
