Chemistryisadisciplinetostudythestructureofmolecules,whilebiologyfocusesoninvestigationoftheirfunctionsandmechanismofaction.Bioactivemolecules,eitherderivedfromnaturalresourceorsyntheticorigin,couldseverasthebridgetoconnectchemistry,biologyandmedicinetogether.Therefore,design,synthesisandapplicationofbioactivemoleculeshavebeenstandinginthecentralstageofourresearches.Principally,weprefertodefineourresearchasbiologicalfunction-orientedchemicalsynthesis,whereintheinventionanddevelopmentofnewchemistries(e.g.novelreactionandstrategy)andapplicationoftheminbioactivemoleculesynthesisrankthetoppriorityofourfocuses,whiletheinvestigationofthebiologicalfunctionsandmechanismofactionofthosesynthesizedbiologicalmoleculesserveasthemajordrivingforce.

- MedicinalChemistry:rationaldesign,synthesisandbiologicalevaluationofmoleculeswithanti-viralactivities(e.g.anti-HIV,anti-HCVandanti-Flu)andidentificationofnewdrugleadcompoundswithpotentialmedicaluse.
