Abstract Food legumes play an important role in food composition, human health, and soil improvement in China, especially as the main source of protein in poverty-stricken area. With the deciphering of the genome of food legumes, the molecular genetic basis and molecular breeding of food legumes have been promoted. Since the establishment of China Agricultural Research System (CARS) in 2008, a number of cultivation techniques suitable for different regions were integrated, and many food legumes varieties with High yield, high quality, diseases and insects resistance, resistance to stresses and suitable for mechanized harvesting were bred, the research and application of green pest prevention and control technology produced a marked effect, the research on production machinery and technology had achieved initial effects, and the improvement of post-production processing technology and product innovation research promoted the quality and efficiency of the food legumes industry. With the demonstration and popularization of new food legume varieties and new technologies, the total yield and yield per unit area of food legumes increased significantly. In particular, the production of faba bean and pea were transformed from dry grain production to fresh vegetable production in the past 10 years. The planting area increased 21.1%, the yield per unit area increased 3.9%, and the total yield increased 36.8%. With the continuous expansion of the food legume industry scale, more food legumes are listed as geographical indication of China's agricultural products, and a number of agricultural enterprise brands are being forming. With the stimulation of the food legume industry, the number of variety rights protection and transfers is gradually increasing, and the food legume industry is emerging. With the improvement of people’s health awareness, domestic and foreign market demand is raising rapidly, the implementation of the rural vitalization strategy, the advancement of agricultural supply-side structural reform, and the development of the featured and advantageous industries in poor areas have brought new opportunities to the food legumes production and seed industry. However, the food legumes seed industry still has some problems, such as high production cost, low production efficiency, scientific research platform construction is still need to be strengthened, lack of elite varieties, and insufficient awareness of variety rights. On the basis of summarizing the present situation and problems of food legumes production and seed industry in China, this paper discusses the future development direction of food legumes production and seed industry. A total of 212 repeatable amplified bands were generated with 11 ISSR primers, of which 209 were polymorphic. Accessions from North China showed highest genetic diversity, while accessions from central China showed low level of diversity. Chinese spring faba bean germplasm was clearly separated from Chinese winter faba bean, based on principal component analysis and UPGMA clustering analysis. Winter accessions from Zhejiang (East China), Jiangxi (East China), Sichuan (Southwest China) and Guizhou (Southwest China) were quite distinct to that from other provinces in China. Great differentiation between Chinese accessions and those from rest of the world was shown with a UPGMA dendrogram. AMOVA analyses demonstrated large variation and differentiation within and among groups of accessions from China. As a continental geographic group, accessions from Europe were genetically closer to those from North Africa. Based on ISSR data, grouping results of accessions from Asia, Europe and Africa were obviously associated with their geographical origin. The overall results indicated that the genetic relationship of faba bean germplasm was closely associated with their geographical origin and their ecological habit.

DOI:10.1007/s00438-019-01619-yURLPMID:31705195 [本文引用: 1] Two bruchid species, azuki bean weevil (Callosobruchus chinensis L.) and cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus F.), are the most important insect pests of mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] after harvest. Improving bruchid resistance is a major goal for mungbean breeders. Bruchid resistance in mungbean is controlled by a single major locus, Br. The tightly linked VrPGIP1 and VrPGIP2, which encode polygalacturonase-inhibiting proteins (PGIPs), are the candidate genes at the Br locus associated with bruchid resistance. One VrPGIP1 resistance allele and two VrPGIP2 resistance alleles have been identified. In this study, we fine-mapped the bruchid-resistance genes in wild mungbean (V. radiata var. sublobata) accession ACC41 using the F2 population (574 individuals) derived from the 'Kamphaeng Saen 2' (susceptible) x ACC41 (resistant) cross. A QTL analysis indicated that the resistance to the azuki bean weevil and cowpea weevil in ACC41 is controlled by a major QTL (qBr5.1) and a minor QTL (qBr5.2), which are only 0.3 cM apart. qBr5.1 and qBr5.2 accounted for about 82% and 2% of the resistance variation in the F2 population, respectively. qBr5.1 was mapped to a 237.35-kb region on mungbean chromosome 5 containing eight annotated genes, including VrPGIP1 and VrPGIP2. An examination of the ACC41 VrPGIP1 and VrPGIP2 sequences revealed a new allele for VrPGIP1 (i.e., VrPGIP1-2). Compared with the wild-type sequence, VrPGIP1-2 has five SNPs, of which four cause amino acid changes (residues 125, 129, 188, and 336). A protein sequence analysis indicated that residues 125 and 129 in VrPGIP1-2 are in a beta-sheet B1 region, whereas residues 188 and 336 are in a C10-helix region and at the end of the C-terminal region, respectively. Because the beta-sheet B1 region is important for interactions with polygalacturonase (PG), residues 125 and 129 in VrPGIP1-2 likely contribute to bruchid resistance by inhibiting PG. Our results imply that VrPGIP1-2 is associated with the bruchid resistance of wild mungbean accession ACC41. This new resistance allele may be useful for breeding mungbean varieties exhibiting durable bruchid resistance.
