Dr. Mak’s research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with particular interest in perianal Crohn’s disease, pregnancy outcomes amongst patients with IBD and gut microbiota and its role in IBD. She also has particular interest in precision medicine and strategic studies in IBD. She is currently the council member of Hong Kong IBD society.
