Prof. T'SOU, Ka Yin Benjamin  (鄒嘉彥)

Prof T'sou received his Ph.D from University of California, Berkeley and MA from Harvard. He came to City University of Hong Kong in 1984, after having taught at the University of Hong Kong and University of California, San Diego. He is currently a Member of the editorial boards of the following publications: Zhongguo Yuwen《中國語文》Journal of the Chinese Language, Beijing; Natural Language Processing (NLP) 《自然語言處理》, Japan; International Journal of Computational Linguistics & Chinese Language Processing, Taipei; International Journal of Computational Linguistics & Chinese Language Processing, Singapore; Yuyan Yanjiu 《語言研究》 Wuhan; 《語言學論叢》(Anthology on Linguistics) 北京大學 (Peking University) and has served as Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Interantional Review of Chinese Linguistics (IRCL) 《國際中國語言學評論》. He also serves on the Executive Board, Chinese Information Processing Society of China 中國中文信息學會, and was the founding President of the Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing, and the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong. He was a general editor and member of the Steering Committee of the Language Atlas of China, 《中國語言地圖》 (bilingual English and Chinese editions), under the joint sponsorship of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Australian Academy of Humanities, and published by Longman Group (Far East) Ltd. He is an overseas member of the Académie Royale des Sciences d’Outre-Mer, and has held Visiting/Honorary Appointments such as the following: Australian National University (Honorary Visiting Senior Research Fellow); Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris (Visiting Professor); Fudan University (Adjunct Professor); Advisory Board Member, Centre for Chinese Language and Culture, Nanyang Technical University, Singapore; University of California, Berkeley, (Visiting Professor, 1995); University of British Columbia, Vancouver, (Visiting Professor, 1997); Chulalorngkorn University, Bangkok, (Honorary Professor, 1997); Northeastern University, Shenyang, (Honorary Professor, 1997); Beijing University, Chinese Linguistics Research Centre, (Honorary Research Fellow, 2001- ), Nanyang Technological University, (Tan Lark Sye Professor, 2002). He is currently Adjunct Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Chinese University of Hong Kong.
