The substance with spinel type structure can insert a large number of alternative ions and change the stoichiometric number in lithium and oxygen, besides, it can keep the spinel type structure stability. This characteristic can be used for ion exchange study to meet requirement of extracting Lithium. The characteristics from combined metal oxide Mg1.5Mn0.5Ti0.75O4 can be measured by the value of saturation exchange capacity and distribution coefficient. The experiment shows that acidulated Mg1.5Mn0.5Ti0.75O4 caused Mg2 extractions more than 72%, while the dissolutions of Mn4 and Ti4 were less than 8.2%.Those experimental results showed that the process of Li extraction/insertion could realize through the ion-exchange mechanism.
