AbstractBacterial blight (BB) is one of the most destructive diseases in rice production. Developing resistance variety is the most efficient and economical solution to control this disease. Owing to the limited resistance genes from cultivated rice and the narrow spectrum of some BB resistance genes, wild rice become an important resource of BB resistance genes with wider spectrum and higher resistance. In this study, seven cloned BB resistance genes were detected in 11 accessions (belonging to Oryza rufipogon, O. officinalis, and O. granulata) of Yunnan wild rice by phenotypic and molecular marker identification. The results showed that Yunnan wild rice had different levels of resistance to BB strains Y8 and PXO99, particularly, O. granulatawas immune to Y8 and PXO99. The resistance genes xa5, xa13and Xa21 were not found in all three wild rice materials. According to functional marker detection, O. rufipogon from Yuanjiang probably carry Xa23 and Xa3/ Xa26; O. rufipogonfrom Jinghong probably carry Xa1, Xa3/ Xa26, and Xa27; and O. officinalisand O. granulata probably carry Xa3/ Xa26 and Xa27, respectively. These results provide a solid basis for exploring and cloning new BB resistance genes from Yunnan wild rice.
