A writing course for students in the SJTU Translation/Interpretation M.A. program, focusing on learning to write good, clear English sentences. Students will learn by studying a textbook used to teach composition to U.S. college students, reading examples of good writing, doing weekly writing practice, and assessing one another's work.Topics covered include: principles of good writing, differences between Chinese and English written language, writing structure (at the sentence, paragraph and essay levels), idiomatic expression, common dilemmas for Chinese learners of English, etc.
