Dr. Lin Zhang obtained her Ph.D. from School of Biomedical Sciences, CUHK in 2013 and received post-doctoral training in the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics (2013-2015) and later School of Biomedical Sciences (2015-2017) in CUHK and University of Edinburgh. Dr. Zhang joined the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care as a Research Assistant Professor in 2017-2020. In August 2020, she joined the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Zhang’s primary research interest is the crosstalk between microbes and the host, including antimicrobial peptide and autophagy. She is actively engaging in microbiome basic and translational microbiome research, with the aim to develop novel therapeutic approaches to restore the dysbiotic microbiota to prevent diseases.
She has published over 64 papers in peer-reviewed journals (13 of them as the first, co-first or corresponding author) and 3 book chapters, including papers in Annals of Oncology, Autophagy, Seminar of Cancer Biology, Seminar of Cell Developmental Biology, Journal of Pathology and Journal of Immunology. As Principal Investigator, Dr. Zhang obtained eight external competitive and six internal grants with a total amount of HK$10.43 million. She has received several awards including Fellowship of Hong Kong – Scotland Partners in Post-Doctoral Research 2016, Excellent Oral Presentation Award in Beijing 2013, Outstanding Oral Presentation Award in Hong Kong Pharmacology Society 2012 and Best Oral Presentation Award in SBS-CUHK 2012.
