research
My main research interest is to understand the serologic and phenotypic variation of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. I hope to better define the pathogenesis and sub-classify these disorders, and use the data to inform management. I have been working on the micro-architectural changes of bones and joints in inflammatory arthritis using advanced imaging techniques. The results could shed light on the disease pathogenic mechanism and potentially predict the outcomes of the patients. I have also been studying the cardiovascular and infection risks of patients with rheumatologic diseases. With the ever-expanding armamentarium of biological and targeted drugs, I will strive to translate the better understanding of diseases to improved care of our patients using a personalized approach.
