If teaching and learning appear memorized, then effective learning will never take place. If I could choose one way to give a picture of my professional philosophy, I would select a quote from the Analects – "To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous.” Acquiring knowledge is the primary purpose of education, but students are not just passive recipients of knowledge. Students' creativity requires more than just learning. While knowledge and experience are acquired, and training is provided, the last step is the jewel – the ability to create new ideas based on what they have learned is the best part of learning. I see myself as a facilitator of learning. A productive learning environment is an "adventure." I encourage students to share their ideas openly with others, even if their ideas may not be perfect. I always tell my students — learn by doing, learn by experiencing failure. Students make mistakes during the knowledge creation process. But this perhaps is the most crucial step we can take to help students cultivate their motivation while developing their confidence for innovation.
