Biography
Kit Choi is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Pathology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Dr. Choi received his Bachelor of Science degree in 2013 and Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2019, both from CUHK. By training, he is a (nano)medicinal chemist and biomedical engineer.

Dr. Choi’s research interest mainly lies on the rational design of novel bionanomaterials (DNA-, plasmonic nanoparticle-, and polymer-based) and bionanotechnologies for understanding fundamental biological processes (e.g., stem cell differentiation and cancer growth) as well as for advancing the healthcare. He anticipates translating his research to clinic, particularly for molecular diagnostics, targeted drug delivery, gene therapy, infection control, and biomedical imaging.

Till now, Dr. Choi has published over 7 first-authored papers in high-impact journals, including Nature Biomedical Engineering, Journal of the American Chemical Society, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and Nanoscale. In recognition of his work, Dr. Choi has received a US patent (US10240190B2) and a few external awards, including Poster Presentation Award 2019 (Gordon Research Conference), Best Paper on Materials 2019 (The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers), Top Prize in Student Research Award 2019 (Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association), and 2021 Young Scientist Award in Life Science (Finalist). In addition, he has served as a reviewer for Micro & Nano Letters.
