The early part ofDavid's career was spent in international advertising agencies: Ogilvy and Mather and Saatchi and Saatchi. Clients during that period included Unilever, Nestle, AmericanExpress and IBM. After advertising he crossed to the client side and lead the marketing departmentof a number ofmajor UK (FTSE) companies.
As Marketing Services Director at Lloyds TSB, at the time the UK's largest bank, he over saw the marketing communications implications of the merger of two major banks including developing a new brand, rolling the brand out over 3500 branches and building a new customer database the largest in Europe at the time and using it to develop a company-wide CRM (Customer Relationship Management) program.
AsCommercial Director at RAC (motor insurance, roadside car repair, windscreen replacement and driver training) he developed the advertising and digital marketing programme for one of the UK’s oldest and best known brands. His role included responsibility for developing a consistent customer service culture across the company and building a marketing platform which grew cross sales through reporting trigger events in customer’s motoring lives.
Finally while Sales and Marketing Director of National Express (large intercity coach operator in Europe and South America, school buses in the USA and Canada and trains and buses in the UK) he lead the re branding of the rail division, developed real time demand based pricing for seat sales and exploited social media and other new technologies to improve customer information and service. He also implemented a sales management structure that focused station staff on sales and created a B2B sales operation.

David Lewis was a lecturer at RMIT”s (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) Ho Chi Minh City campus in Vietnam. Courses he taught included Leadership, Management, Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Communications and student projects conducted with local businesses.
