李建国,男,博士,江苏江都人。中国科学院南京地质古生物研究所研究员、博导、古植物与孢粉学研究室主任。从事中、新生代孢粉学研究,研究领域包括化石孢粉与沟鞭藻形态分类及演化、地层学、古植被、古生态-古气候-古地理、被子植物花粉起源与演化、孢粉相及烃源岩评价等。现主要致力于青藏高原地质和中国陆相中、新生界研究。主持或参加了多项国家973重点基础规划研究、国家“十五”攀登、中国科学院“九五”重大、国家自然科学基金、中国科学院创新方向性项目及重大科技专项等课题项目的研究工作,目前主持国家自然基金委面上项目、中国科学院战略先导专项A子子课题“中亚干旱区新生代古植被”、中国科学院战略先导专项B子课题“中生代-新生代早期东新特提斯演化关键阶段的生物与环境演化”及青藏高原第二次综合科学考察子专题等多项课题研究。曾20次赴青藏高原考察。在国际和国内核心科学期刊上发表论文60多篇(包括SCI期刊论文20余篇),主编SCI期刊专辑1部、国内CSCD专辑1部。成果曾获云南省科技一等奖。
印度加尔各答大学(2002)、英国威尔士大学(2003-2004)、英国BGS(2009)访问****。
中国古生物学会孢粉学分会第七、八、九届理事、秘书长。《微体古生物学报》副主编,《地层学杂志》编委。
