Liz Jacksonis Professor and the Acting Head of the Department of International Educationat the Education University of Hong Kong. Sheworks in the field of philosophy of education,focusingparticularly on the diversity of human experience.
Liz has published more than 200 books, articles, book chapters, and special journal issues.Each of her first three single-authored books,Muslims and Islam In US Education: Reconsidering Multiculturalism,Questioning Allegiance: Resituating Civic Education, andBeyond Virtue: The Politics of Educating Emotions, have one multiple book awards, including the Philosophy of Education Society of Australasia Book Award and the American Educational Studies Critics’ Choice Award.
?Lizserves as aneditor fortheCERC Series in Comparative Studies in Educationand New Directions in the Philosophy of Education. She is a Fellow and Past President of thePhilosophy of Education Society of Australasiaand aformerDirector of theComparative Education Research Centreat the University of Hong Kong.
Liz hasexperience working in the USA, England,Scotland, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong. Shegrew up in Oregon, and did herMPhil at the University of Cambridge in ‘Politics, Democracy and Education’, and herPhD in philosophy of education atthe University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
