Stephen CHATELIER is Assistant Professor in the Department of International Education at the Education University of Hong Kong. His research interests emerge from political and ethical questions involving education and the human, particularly in the context of globalization. Stephen's PhD thesis took the challenge for contemporary education to help us learn to live together as the background for a theoretical exploration of some of the ways in which various postcolonial theories raise serious questions of the notion of humanism. He also won a grant from the IB to conduct research looking into the perceptions of IB Diploma teachers working in China, Australia and Hong Kong as they look to integrate Theory of Knowledgeinto their everyday practice.
Dr Chatelier began his career in education as a secondary humanities teacher, and has experience in the IB MYP and DP. He has taught in Australia, Kazakhstan and China and also participates in international school accreditation visits for the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
