Kobe teaches cross-disciplinary courses with specialization in Japanese language and society, cultural and film studies. She served as an adviser for the Panel of Film Censorships for the HKSAR for the maximum length of service of six years. She has also been serving as External Examiner and Academic Advisor for Diploma and Higher Diploma Programmes of Japanese Studies to a tertiary institution and was appointed as a Specialist in Japanese Studies by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications.
She publishes and conducts research in various disciplines under Humanities and Social Sciences such as sociology, cultural studies, communication studies and politics. She is an invited reviewer for an international academic journal.
