Profile:
Jin (Jinhuang Zhang) holds an MA degree inApplied Linguistics from Monash University, Australia, awarded in 2018. Herresearch interests include Cultural Linguistics and InterculturalCommunication. She completed her MA thesis entitled “Unpacking CulturalConceptualisations of the Metaphorical Usage of Temperature Terms in MandarinChinese” under the supervision of Professor Farzad Sharifian, the pioneer ofCultural Linguistics. During her study in Australia, Jin worked as a mentor atMonash University, a tutor at a high school teaching English as a secondlanguage as well as an IELTS trainer.
Prior to that, Jin obtained a BA degree inJournalism from Shantou University in 2016. During her undergraduate study, Jinwas awarded with ACC Australian Studies 2015-2016 Competitive Project Grantfrom the Australian Government. She also made a significant contribution to thereport of the 2015 Nepal earthquake as a member of the 2015 STU Nepal ReportingTeam and worked subsequently as a journalist at ECS Media, Nepal, where sheconducted independent interviews and published articles written in English andChinese.
As an STU alumna, Jin is very excited to come back and contribute tohelping STU students enhance their English skills.
