Profile:
Lian has a background in English literature, cinema studies, and English language teaching. After briefly working in the entertainment industry, Lian became interested in teaching through a teaching assistant position at a local community college. Since then, she has earned an MA in TESOL from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS). During her time at MIIS, her research focused primarily on corrective feedback.
Lian has worked with adult learners from a variety of backgrounds in university extensions and intensive language programs as a teacher, tutor, and administrator. In her classes, Lian is especially passionate about teaching reading and writing and enjoys learning about her students through the work they produce in her class. Her goal is to help students develop effective strategies to communicate in English with confidence.
Outside of teaching, Lian can be found hiking, reading, or working on an embroidery project while watching movies.
