Let the sunshine in: Eosin?Y‐functionalized organic polymers exhibit high catalytic efficiency for CO2photoreduction in the presence of H2O under visible‐light irradiation, affording CO as the sole carbonaceous product with a rate of 33?μmol?g?1?h?1and a selectivity of 92?%. No metal, sacrifice reagent, or photosensitizer are required.
2. Hierarchically Mesoporous o-Hydroxyazobenzene Polymers: Synthesis and their Applications in CO2 Capture and Conversion.

CO2just POPs in: In water and without any templates, hierarchically mesoporouso‐hydroxyazobenzene polymers with high surface areas are synthesized. The porous organic polymers (POPs) showed excellent solubility in polar and apolar solvents, good adsorption capacity for metal ions, ultrahigh selectivity for CO2/N2separation, and excellent performance for catalyzing CO2conversion.

3. A Protic Ionic Liquid Catalyzes CO2 Conversion at Atmospheric Pressure and Room Temperature: Synthesis of Quinazoline-2,4-(1H,3H)-diones.

No pressure: The reaction of CO2with various 2‐aminobenzonitriles was achieved at atmospheric pressure and room temperature by using the bifunctional protic ionic liquid [HDBU+][TFE?], thus producing the title compounds in excellent yields. The ionic liquid serves as both the catalyst and solvent, and activates both CO2and the substrates simultaneously. DBU=1,8‐diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec‐7‐ene, TFE=trifluoroethanol.

4. Task-specific ionic liquid and CO2 cocatalysed efficient hydration of propargylic alcohols to α-hydroxy ketones.

The hydration of propargylic alcohols is a green route to synthesize α-hydroxy ketones. Herein a CO2-reactive ionic liquid (IL), [Bu4P][Im], was found to display high performance for catalyzing the hydration of propargylic alcohols in the presence of atmospheric CO2, and a series of propargylic alcohols could be converted into the corresponding α-hydroxy ketones in good to excellent yields. In the IL/CO2reaction system, CO2served as a cocatalyst by forming α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates with propargylic alcohols, and was releasedviathe rapid hydrolysis of the carbonates catalysed by the IL. This is the first example of the efficient hydration of propargylic alcohols under metal-free conditions.

6.Facile Synthesis of High Quality TiO2Nanocrystals in Ionic Liquid via a Microwave-Assisted Process.

Herein we report a facile method to synthesize anatase nanocrystals (NCs) with uniform size and shape via a microwave-assisted route in ionic liquid. These NCs are highly crystalline, low in Ti3+defect, and free of aggregation.

Let the sunshine in: Eosin?Y‐functionalized organic polymers exhibit high catalytic efficiency for CO2photoreduction in the presence of H2O under visible‐light irradiation, affording CO as the sole carbonaceous product with a rate of 33?μmol?g?1?h?1and a selectivity of 92?%. No metal, sacrifice reagent, or photosensitizer are required.
2. Hierarchically Mesoporous o-Hydroxyazobenzene Polymers: Synthesis and their Applications in CO2 Capture and Conversion.

CO2just POPs in: In water and without any templates, hierarchically mesoporouso‐hydroxyazobenzene polymers with high surface areas are synthesized. The porous organic polymers (POPs) showed excellent solubility in polar and apolar solvents, good adsorption capacity for metal ions, ultrahigh selectivity for CO2/N2separation, and excellent performance for catalyzing CO2conversion.

3. A Protic Ionic Liquid Catalyzes CO2 Conversion at Atmospheric Pressure and Room Temperature: Synthesis of Quinazoline-2,4-(1H,3H)-diones.

No pressure: The reaction of CO2with various 2‐aminobenzonitriles was achieved at atmospheric pressure and room temperature by using the bifunctional protic ionic liquid [HDBU+][TFE?], thus producing the title compounds in excellent yields. The ionic liquid serves as both the catalyst and solvent, and activates both CO2and the substrates simultaneously. DBU=1,8‐diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec‐7‐ene, TFE=trifluoroethanol.

4. Task-specific ionic liquid and CO2 cocatalysed efficient hydration of propargylic alcohols to α-hydroxy ketones.

The hydration of propargylic alcohols is a green route to synthesize α-hydroxy ketones. Herein a CO2-reactive ionic liquid (IL), [Bu4P][Im], was found to display high performance for catalyzing the hydration of propargylic alcohols in the presence of atmospheric CO2, and a series of propargylic alcohols could be converted into the corresponding α-hydroxy ketones in good to excellent yields. In the IL/CO2reaction system, CO2served as a cocatalyst by forming α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates with propargylic alcohols, and was releasedviathe rapid hydrolysis of the carbonates catalysed by the IL. This is the first example of the efficient hydration of propargylic alcohols under metal-free conditions.

6.Facile Synthesis of High Quality TiO2Nanocrystals in Ionic Liquid via a Microwave-Assisted Process.

Herein we report a facile method to synthesize anatase nanocrystals (NCs) with uniform size and shape via a microwave-assisted route in ionic liquid. These NCs are highly crystalline, low in Ti3+defect, and free of aggregation.
