本课题组目前主要承担了科技部重大仪器专项、科技部973、国家自然科学基金,中国科学院等项目。实验室具备比较完善的实验设备和良好的研究条件。本课题组长期致力于新型光功能材料的研究,在低维材料、纳米光电子学等方面做出了开创性贡献。一方面从材料基元的设计、合成及微纳结构的组装出发,夯实材料可控合成与加工的基础。另一方面,以新型现代物理化学手段和表征技术的创新为依托,深入理解光功能材料中的关键物理化学过程。基于对相关科学问题的认识,构建了若干光电功能器件,与基础研究相结合,发展了以"倒置正置一体化精确控制选区显微技术"为核心的纳米光子学测试新方法,相关技术获得国际质量管理体系认证。
姚建年院士至今已在国际化学和材料界等杂志上发表论文500余篇(他引15000余次),包括Nature, Science Advances, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater.等;主编撰写专著1部,合著3部,合作译著1部;授权发明专利30多项。培养出一批光电化学领域的优秀人才,累计毕业研究生及博士后80余名,其中多人在国内外担任教职,包括973首席2人,****4人,长江1人。

姚建年 院士 研究员
1982年毕业于福建师范大学化学系,1990年获日本东京大学工学部硕士学位,1993年获该校博士学位。1995年8月到1999年9月先后任中科院感光化学研究所副研究员、研究员、博士生导师、室主任、所长助理。1999年9月起为中国科学院化学研究所研究员。2005年11月当选为中国科学院院士,2008年1月起任国家自然科学基金委副主任。
姚建年同志是光化学与光功能材料领域的代表人物之一,长期从事新型光功能材料的基础和应用探索研究,在有机低维功能材料、纳米光电子学等方面取得了一系列开创性成果,具有重要的国际影响。2004年以成果"新型光功能材料的基础研究和应用探索"获国家自然科学二等奖(第一获奖人),2014年以成果"低维光功能材料的控制合成与物化性能"获国家自然科学二等奖(第一获奖人)。1995年获国家****科学基金资助,并多次获中科院优秀导师奖。目前承担国家重大科学仪器设备开发专项、973项目、及院重大创新项目。2003年由他为学术带头人的"光功能材料的设计、制备与表征"获基金委创新研究群体资助。截止2015年3月,已在Nature(1),Nat.Photon.(1),J.Am.Chem.Soc.(16),Angew.Chem. Int.Ed.(11), Adv.Mater.(24)等国际化学和材料界期刊杂志上发表论文400余篇(他引8621次,单篇最高引用307次),已获国家授权发明专利18项,主编撰写专著1部,合著3部,合作译著1部。目前兼任中国化学会理事长、中国真空学会"表面与纳米"专业委员会委员、中国电子学会"光信息存储"专业委员会理事、兼任《化学学报》、《物理化学学报》和《影像科学与光化学》杂志的副主编。是英国皇家化学会的fellow,日本科学振兴会(JST)中国中心顾问,是第九届、第十届全国政协委员,第十一、十二届全国人大常委会委员,中国科协第八届常委。

姚建年,研究员,物理化学家,获日本东京大学工学部博士学位,现任中国科学院化学研究所研究员,中国化学会理事长,第十三届全国人大常委会委员,全国人大社会建设委员会副主任委员,农工党中央副主席,中国科协第九届全国委员会常务委员,英国皇家化学会和国际纳米制造学会的fellow,日本科学技术振兴机构(JST)中国综合研究中心顾问。2005年当选中国科学院院士。
长期从事新型光功能材料的基础和应用探索研究,在低维材料、纳米光电子学等方面做出了开创性贡献。迄今Nature, Acc. Chem. Res., Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater. 等国际化学和材料界等杂志上发表论文500余篇(他引15000余次),出版合著4部,合作译著1部,担任担任《CCS Chemistry》主编、《光电子科学与技术前沿丛书》主编、《中国大百科全书》第三版化学学科副主编、物理化学分支主编。1995年获中国驻日大使馆教育处优秀留学人员称号,同年获国家****科学基金资助;1997年首批入选"百、千、****才工程"第一、二层次;2003年荣获教育部"全国优秀博士学位论文指导教师"称号,同年由他为学术带头人的"光功能材料的设计、制备与表征"获基金委创新研究群体资助;2004年以成果"若干新型光功能材料的基础研究和应用探索"获国家自然科学二等奖(第一获奖人);2013年获中国分析测试协会科学技术奖(CAIA)一等奖(第二获奖人);2014年以成果"低维光功能材料的控制合成与物化性能"获国家自然科学奖二等奖(第一获奖人);2015年获何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖;2016年获中国科学院杰出成就奖。此外,还多次获中科院优秀导师奖。

仿生超分子与自组装
有机聚合物太阳能电池是太阳能利用的主要途径之一,其光电过程包括激子产生、激子扩散、激子分离和载流子传输四个主要过程,因此,电池的光电转换性能不仅与光活性分子的光电性能密切相关,还与薄膜材料中电子给受体材料分子的相分离程度、有序性、纳米形貌等超分子层次上的结构因素密切相关。从这个意义上讲,分子自组装与太阳能电池是密不可分、紧密联系的。
在这方面,自然界已经给出了答案。
天然光合作用体系是自然界高效利用太阳能的典范,通过生物体特有的可控组装方式,光功能分子在蛋白质有序结构的引导下,形成高度有序的超分子结构,形成了电荷定向分离与转移通道,沿电荷转移通道,功能分子形成电势梯度,形成了特有的调控电荷分离与定向转移的分子机制。
我们的研究目标是模拟天然光合作用体系的结构和功能特性,通过分子可控组装,研制自组装有机太阳能电池(SA-OSCs)。
研究工作进展:
1、氢键与类多肽寡聚体分子的可控组装
氢键具有方向性和饱和性,将吡啶与酰亚胺这样的氢键给受体基团沿分子链交替地有序排列形成吡啶酰亚胺寡聚体分子(Pyridine-imide oligomers, PIOs)后,吡啶氮原子与2,6位上的酰亚胺NH间的强分子内氢键作用引导分子可控折叠,形成紧密堆积的螺旋结构(图1,Tetrahedron2011, 67, 8458-8464;Chem. Commun.2008, 2444–2446)。

多肽骨架间的氢键作用是引导多肽可控折叠形成b-折片的主要作用力(J. Colloid and Interface2009, 337, 54-60)。如果把酰亚胺或脲基代替酰胺键引入到肽链中,因为它们都可以多提供一个氢键作用位点,与天然二肽相比,酰亚胺二肽或脲基二肽可提供更强的氢键作用,因此,可在更低的浓度下形成b-折片(Tetrahedron2009, 65 8269–8276; Tetrahedron Lett.2009, 50, 3926-3928; Synlett 2009, 9, 1506-1510)。在骨架间氢键作用的引导下,多肽分子往往倾向于一维自组装,形成高稳定性的b-折片,因此,调控b-折片层次上的堆积方式是调控多肽纳米形貌的关键。我们选取pp作用和亲水作用均较弱的联吡啶单元,通过柔性链与三肽单元偶联得到三肽-联吡啶偶联寡聚体(图2a,分子1),当分子1两端的三肽单元形成稳定的b-折片(图2b)后,超声和加热可以开关分子中间的联吡啶及其连接单元的分子构型,引起亲疏水作用发生可逆变化,即通过b-折片的稳定性与分子构型的可变性之间的完美平衡,实现了b-折片的高级堆积方式及其纳米形貌的可逆调控(图2c和d,Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.2011, 50, 3715-3719)。这个结果说明合理设计分子组装基元,引入亲疏水等作用力,通过分子构型的可逆变化可以对自组装纳米材料的形貌进行精准调控。

2、有机半导体的可控组装
苝二酰亚胺(PDI)是一类典型的n-型有机半导体,其大p体系所提供的强pp作用强烈地倾向于引导分子形成一维pp堆积和一维纳米材料(Curr. Org. Chem.2011, 15, 1314-1339)。我们发现在PDI的1,7-腰位上引入亲水性的吡啶单元后可有效地调控PDI的一维组装倾向:所得到的这个"正方形"两亲分子(图3a)在甲醇中形成空心纳米球,但在乙醇等弱极性溶剂中,则形成片状结构,说明溶质-溶剂间弱相互作用的微小改变可以有效地调控其自组装纳米形貌(J. Colloid and Interface Sci.2010, 349, 142-147)。
当用盐酸把吡啶质子化后,在腰位上新引入了氢键和静电力等二级作用力,二级作用力的增强有效地改变了PDI的片状自组装倾向,可控地形成空心纳米球(图3b)。有趣的是,静电力的引入增大了PDI单元间的距离,大大减弱了聚集引起的荧光淬灭程度,因此,空心纳米球具有与PDI分子本身相当的高荧光量子产率,是片状组装体的4-8倍(J. Am. Chem. Soc.2011,133, 11022-11025)。这个结果说明二级作用力不仅可以调控纳米形貌,通过对分子组装基元的理性设计,还可以调控纳米材料的性能。

由于PDI腰位方向上的二级作用力与吡啶的质子化程度密切相关,而吡啶的质子化程度可通过水含量(RW)和盐酸浓度([HCl])加以精确地调控,因此,通过水含量(RW)和盐酸浓度([HCl])可以实现对腰位方向上包括溶质-溶剂间弱相互作用在内的二级作用力的精准调控。我们发现,随着RW和[HCl]的变化,总共有5种形貌被观察到,将形貌与RW和[HCl]相关,首次绘制了二级作用力调控PDI自组装的"分子自组装相图",建立了用自组装相图表征弱相互作用调控纳米形貌的新方法,在弱相互作用预测纳米材料的形貌方面取得了进展,由定性阶段上升到了半定量阶段。
3、自组装有机太阳能电池
D-A共聚物是一类重要的电子给体材料,在有机电子学领域有广泛的应用前景。目前,与大量报道的用于D-A共聚物的不同种类的给体单元相比,受体单元的种类和数目却显得明显不足。在此激发下,我们从常见的电子给体单元——芴出发,设计合成了一类新型的电子受体单元——CN2-Fluorene(图4)。将它与常见的电子给体单元共聚所得到的D-A共聚物表现出明显的场效应性能和光电转换性能,通过薄膜场效应晶体管(OTFTs)测得的载流子迁移率是传统的芴基聚合物的10倍,达到了10-3 cm2×V?1×s?1数量级(Poly. Chem. C2PY20184D, in press)。

光电功能材料
基于分子间能量转移现象,设计制备了掺杂TPI-苝晶态微米棒/管体系,发现微米管有着不同于微米棒的特殊光波导性质。并发现基于TPI和苝之间的荧光共振能量转移和长程能量传递,实现了波导光能量在不同波长上重新分配,有望成为波导调制器的原型器件。(已发表于Adv. Mater. 2009 21 4153-4157)。
利用有机小分子TPI(紫色发光)和APO(绿色发光)来构筑二元微米管复合材料。利用TPI和APO之间的荧光共振能量转移和长程能量传递,实现发光调制的原型器件。基于APO分子光致异构性质,进一步实现了二元TPI-APO微米管的光控波导开关。该二元微米管有望用于逻辑开关和检测器的设计。(已发表在Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2011 50 4942-4946.)
通过控制分子间的成核和生长的过程,我们将TPI和DCM自组装成为复杂的二元多级结构。不仅能够得到均质二元微米管,还可以获得五节的多级结构。研究表明,多节结构的形成是分子成核和生长竞争的结果。这种理性的可控制备过程可以进一步应用到7节甚至9节的微纳米结构的制备。重要的是,这种理性可控制备可以推广到多种有机小分子体系中。

Organic Nanomaterials Our group is interested in the synthesis of new kinds of nanomaterials and nanostructures from a variety of compounds, especially from low-molecular-weight organic molecules. The weak intermoecular interactions (e.g., hydrogen bonds, pi-pi interactions, van de Waals force) drive the assemble process from individual molecules into highly ordered packing structures. Therefore, spheres, cubes, rods, belts, wires, tubes, sheets and many other shapes can be controllably constructed by either vapor deposition or liquid-phase assembly routes. Furthermore, thesefunctional organic molecules show distinct optical/electronic properties in the aggregate formof solids rather than those in solutions.

Organic Photonics & Electronics The inherent versality of organic compounds promises their wide applications in photonics and electronics. The 1D nanostructures can efficiently confine and directionally transport photons, serving as active optical waveguides and microcavities. The photophysical and photochemical transistions bring unique functionalities by the generation of excitons (strongly coupled electron-hole pairs). The stable exciton-photon coupling at room temperaturefeatures the organic photonic materials and devices from their inorganic couterparts. The investigation of light-matter interaction can also helps in overcoming the challenges in organic electronics and opto-electronics.
