讲者简介

约翰·奥奈恩斯[John Onians]

英国东安吉利亚大学教授，以富有创造性和思想性的学术研究享誉世界艺术史领域，其早年研究范围涵盖古希腊、罗马的建筑、绘画和雕塑，论及物质文化、文化隐喻与思想观念、知觉与认知模式、生理感受与艺术创作等重要问题。他是英国艺术史家协会学刊《艺术史》[Art History]创刊主编，他于20世纪初提出“世界艺术研究”[World Art Studies]的观念，并创立相关的学院与博物馆，组织重要的学术会议，力图破除“欧洲中心主义”和“地方中心主义”的积习，以人类的一般性理论客观验证具体的艺术史事实，同时将一般性理论建立在可用科学方法求证的知觉经验之上，综合自然环境、民族文化、艺术传统等多元要素，重新审视世界各地艺术风格的特殊性问题，从而打破了各类文化中心主义所预设的观念和价值框架，为我们平等地审视世界艺术、解释不同民族的艺术传统提供了理论基石。


其具有世界性影响的代表著作有：《希腊化时期的艺术与思想》[Art and the Thought in the Hellenistic Age]，《意义的承载者》[Bearers of Meaning]，《希腊、罗马古典艺术与文化》[Classical Art and the Cultures of Greece and Rome]，《神经元艺术史：从亚里士多德和普林尼到巴克森德尔和萨基》[Neuroarthistory: From Aristotle and Pliny to Baxandall and Zeki]（该书中译本已由江苏美术出版社2015年7月出版）。他还主编了《视力与洞察力》[Sight and Insight]，《世界艺术图景》[Atlas of World Art]，《限制与拓展》[Compression Vs. Expression]等。奥奈恩斯教授提出的神经艺术史丰富了世界艺术史的研究图景，产生了巨大的学术影响力。
