护理理论发展与应用主要对研究生进行比较系统的护理理论与护理知识体系的教学。本课程将介绍护理知识体系的架构，护理理论家及产生理论的背景，理论特点与运用趋势，而后将介绍理论的评价要素，针对不同的护理理论进行分析及评价，讨论理论在临床实践、护理教育、护理管理及护理科研上的运用与发展。目的是引导学生了解护理理论的历史、发展、理论所包含的概念和议题、理论与科研及临床护理实践间的联系。通过本课程的学习，学生将能分辩理论形成要素，阐述护理理论目前发展，探讨理论应用的挑战及问题，在不同的临床实践场景或护理教育过程中应用所学的护理理论进行分析，并评价理论应用的优势及不足，指出进一步理论验证的课题。

"This course is designed to provide the students with opportunities to analyze and evaluate theories and models for nursing practice and research. The course will introduce the components of theory and related concepts; in addition, the process and evolution of theory development in nursing will be discussed. The course identifies several nursing theories and nursing models that are useful for guiding nursing education and nursing practice. Students are expected to develop the ability to critique and analyze current nursing theories by utilizing provided evaluation criteria. In addition, all students are encouraged to examine the Chinese culture and health related practice, habits, and cultural belief to stimulate the intellectual discussion for future nursing theory development within Chinese cultural setting. Students are expected to critically review the literature of the selected theory and validate the related concepts in clinical setting.All nursing topics will provide reading materials prior to the lecture, and these materials will be useful to highlight the key points. The in-class discussion is to integrate and to critically examine current nursing theory and application from a clinical nursing perspective. It is important to read the reading assignments before the class in order to be prepared for a lively and informed discussion. All students are expected to participate in class discussion and other related activities fully. This component will constitute 10% of the final grade."
