Syllabus design is an important course in the MA program in applied linguistics. The course will provide the participants with tools and techniques for analyzing and examining the syllabuses they are going to work with. The course will also cover the concepts and procedures for developing syllabus. Besides, the course will include the main elements of language syllabus design such as needs assessment, goals and objectives, materials evaluation & adaptation and materials development, course evaluation, etc. Case study is adopted and different syllabuses are introduced so that students will be able to design a syllabus when they leave the course.
