本课程是为语言学与应用语言学研究方向的硕士研究生开设的。主要内容为诗歌欣赏和小说阅读。前者涉及诗歌中的音、韵、形、意象等，后者涉及小说中的人物塑造、情节、聚焦等，同时简单介绍基本的文学批评方法以及意识流小说和元小说的形态和特征。

The course is intended for the MA students of linguistics and applied linguistics, aiming to help the students appreciate British and American poetry and fiction. It briefly introduces some literary criticisms and formal features of stream-of-consciousness novel and metafiction. The focus is on sounds, rhymes, forms and images in poetry; characterization, plot, foculization in fiction.
