　　【个人情况综述】
　　目前主要从事高等植物类胡萝卜素和脱落酸(ABA)生物合成代谢途径的分子生物学研究。类胡萝卜素是通过类异戊二烯途径合成的呈现黄色、橙红色和红色的一大类含量丰富的萜类色素物质。类胡萝卜素在植物生命活动中担负着光合作用中光吸收的辅助色素的重要功能。他们具有吸收和传递电子的能力，在清除光合作用中产生的叶绿素三线态和单线态及超氧阴离子等自由基方面起着重要的作用。?－胡萝卜素和含?－环的胡萝卜素是人类及动物体内维生素A（Retinol）合成的前体物质(Provitamin A, 前维生素A)。维生素A是人体和动物体内必不可少的营养物质。前维生素A(?－胡萝卜素)摄取不足将导致视力减弱和失明。儿童由于前维生素A摄取不足导致的麻疹和腹泻等疾病的严重恶化将增加儿童的死亡率。而且许多其它非维生素A类胡萝卜素如玉米黄质和叶黄体素对人体也是非常有益的，它们具有抗癌、抗心血管疾病和提高人体免疫力等功能。玉米黄质和叶黄体素是人视网膜黄斑中的主要色素，具有清除单线态氧和防止老年性弱视等功能。植物的类胡萝卜素也是许多花、果实（如番茄）和根（如胡萝卜）等中的主要色素，用以吸引昆虫、鸟类或动物来帮助其授粉和传播种子，以及构成园艺植物的观赏性和经济价值。脱落酸(ABA)是一种重要的植物激素，它对植物的生理、生长及发育过程有重要的调控作用，包括胚胎形成、种子成熟和萌发、气孔开闭及植物对逆境的反应，在农业生产与细胞工程中具有潜在的应用价值。因此，类胡萝卜素和ABA生物合成代谢途径的分子生物学研究具有重大的理论意义和广阔的应用前景。
　　到目前为止我们已从龙胆、玉米和水稻中克隆、鉴定了十几个可用于植物品质改良、改变园艺植物花的颜色、增强农作物对干旱和强光及高温胁迫的耐受性、控制植物种子休眠的基因及其启动子。我们将分离到的龙胆ZDS和ZEP启动子全长-GUS融合基因载体，应用农杆菌介导法转入番茄(Lycopersicon esculentum, cv. Micro-Tom), 应用GUS组织化学和活性分析技术对以上转基因番茄的研究表明,在叶片和含有大量叶绿体的未成熟的绿色番茄果实中ZDS和ZEP基因启动子驱动的GUS基因几乎不表达,伴随番茄果实的发育,果实中的叶绿体逐渐转化发育成有色体,ZDS和ZEP基因启动子驱动的GUS基因表达量逐渐增加, 在含有有色体的成熟番茄果实和花中表达量最大。即ZDS和ZEP基因启动子的表达与有色体的发育密切相关, 并且发现ZDS和ZEP基因的表达主要是在转录水平调控。我们成功地从龙胆中克隆到脱落酸生物合成关键调节酶NCED（9－顺式－环氧类胡萝卜素二氧合酶）基因。在烟草中过量表达龙胆NCED基因，提高了一些转基因烟草对水分胁迫的耐受性，并且延迟了转基因烟草种子的萌发时间。以第一作者向国际基因数据库存入20多个植物核酸碱基序列，以第二发明者申请多项日本国发明专利。在国际上首次应用类胡萝卜素生物合成基因将粉兰烟草(Nicotiana glauca)的花瓣由黄色转变为红色，取得了一些有创造性的、具有国际先进水平的研究成果。
　　克隆鉴定的类胡萝卜素生物合成基因和玉米种子特异性表达启动子以及番茄果实特异性表达启动子可应用于提高重要农作物（如玉米、小麦和大豆等）种子、番茄果实、胡萝卜根和牧草叶片等中的前维生素A和玉米黄质含量以及改变植物花的颜色的遗传工程。克隆鉴定的龙胆BCH（胡萝卜素?－环羟化酶）基因可用于增强农作物对强光和高温胁迫耐受性的基因工程。克隆鉴定的与脱落酸生物合成重要相关的龙胆NCED基因有期望应用于增强农作物对干旱的耐受性和控制植物种子休眠的遗传工程。

　　1993年10月至1995年10月，在日本国筑波大学基因研究中心做博士论文工作，中日政府联合培养博士研究生，日本文部省奖学金资助。
