Dr Wright is a four time nominee for the University’s President’s Award for Excellence Performance and a Finalist for the 2015 University Grants Committee Teaching Award. In 2005 he received the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence. In 2013 he was nominated for election to serve on the Council of the university. Dr Wright is the past Chairperson (2015) for the Teaching Community of the American Strategic Management Society (SMS) overseeing pedagogical advancements for over 3000 strategy professors in 80+ countries. He was also past Chairperson (2012) of the Strategy Practice Research track of SMS. He is also an award-winning reviewer and qualitative researcher. His research on “How useful are the strategic tools we teach in business schools?” won Best Paper of the Year Award from the prestigious?Journal of Management Studies. In 2016 he received the Emerald Citations of Excellence Award for high impact research. In 2018 he received the university level Merit for Outstanding Professional Services Awards for a consultancy project with multi-departmental involvement and the highest contract value for the financial year (2016-2017). Dr Wright recently completed a $HK9.7M, 3-year Teaching & Learning Development Grant awarded by the Hong Kong Government to scale up his strategic thinking “F.O.C.U.S.E.D.” framework across the UGC tertiary education sector. In 2020, he received the Faculty Prize for Outstanding Service. In 2021 he successfully completed a 6-months sabbatical leave attached to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine’s Centre for Medical Education at the National University of Singapore. Dr. Wright is Associate Editor of the?Journal of Management Education?(JME) and sits on the Editorial Review Boards of the?Academy of Management Learning & Education?(AMLE) and?Organizational Research Methods?(ORM). He previously served on the Editorial boards of?Academy of Management Review (2011-2017) and Journal of Organizational Behavior (2002-2006). Outside of academia he is a Fellow and served on the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management between 1998-2012; Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Dr. Wright is a graduate of executive development programs in IMD in Switzerland, and the Harvard Business School.
