Professor Liu Hongyu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Management Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He is currently Professor in Real Estate and Construction, Director of the Institute of Real Estate Studies, Member of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee and Associate Director of the Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization at Tsinghua University. His research focuses on real estate economics, real estate investment and finance, housing policies and land management.
Professor Liu has published over 150 journal papers including in the Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Urban Studies, Energy Policy, Real Estate Economics and China Economic Review. He has received education and research achievement awards many times from Tsinghua University, Beijing Municipality, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MHURD) of China, etc. He also won the 2008 Service Award of the International Real Estate Society and? 2016 Special Contribution Award of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Professor Liu is also Deputy Chairperson of the Specialist Committee of Housing and Real Estate Policy of MHURD, Executive Director of the Global Chinese Real Estate Congress (GCREC), Fellow and Past President of the Asian Real Estate Society. He has served as Fellow of RICS (UK) and Academic Fellow Member of ULI (USA).
