Oluwole Soyinka is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Urban Planning and Design, Faculty of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong. In 2018, Oluwole completed his PhD degree entitled “Urban informality and infrastructure planning: the study of Hong Kong SAR and Lagos metropolis for sustainable urban design strategies” with the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship (HKPFS) award from the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Science degree with distinction, a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honours and a National Diploma with distinction in Urban and Regional Planning. He is a registered town planner (RTPI, UK; TOPREC, Nigeria), and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planning (NITP), International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), International Society of Sustainability Professional (ISSP), Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), Design Research Society (DRS) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Oluwole is an Associate Fellow Advance Higher Education (AFHEA) and a Certified Publons Academy Supervisor. He was a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Lagos, Nigeria prior to his PhD at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interest includes urban informality and infrastructure planning in relation to social, economic, and environmental design strategies, homeownership, housing and sustainable urban development. His current research is on informal economy spatial analytics with bigdata and innovative software’s for urban analytics.
