BIO
Born and raised in Hong Kong, I started my teaching career when I was 20 in a Hong Kong primary school. After several years of teaching, I emigrated to California with my family and resumed my education. I got two degrees and teaching credentials from the California State University, Sacramento. Over there, I started my teaching career path one more time and was lucky to have opportunities to work in different school settings: Kindergarten, elementary, and middle schools. I met students of various races and backgrounds: students who were talented, physically handicapped, and emotionally disturbed, students who were native English speakers, and newly arrived students who spoke no English. It was not only a training ground but also a battle field. I am proud that I survived the challenges but not without scars. In 1993, I returned to Hong Kong after the persuasion of my friends. Due to my experience in California, I was selected by the Institute of Language in Education to be a teacher trainer for the Target Oriented Curriculum. Henceforth, I have been working in the Hong Kong tertiary education circle which includes HKIEd and HK Baptist University.
I taught a variety of courses throughout the years in HK Baptist University. I also developed the teaching materials and became the Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators of some of the major courses in BU. In addition, I was the organizer of the English Speaking Contest and the English Short Story Writing Contest as well as other functions. All these activities and duties help me become a better educator. I retired in the year 2012 and have been working as a part-time lecturer in HKBU Language Centre ever since.
