Prof. COMER, Fergus Adjunct Associate Professor




Introduction Fergus is a registered architect from the UK, with training in architecture, art and design from the AA School of Architecture and St Martins School of Art in London.
Since 2014 he has led his own practice in Hong Kong and combines this with teaching and research. Ongoing practice projects include a series of walkways in Quarry Bay and the renovation of the CLP Clocktower in Kowloon, and research projects include a low-rise hillside housing prototype in Tung Chung and a study of the spatial character of the quasi-public interior realm network on Hong Kong Island.?

His practice experience prior to this included project leadership for Heatherwick studio, where he was responsible for the 1000 Trees development in Shanghai, and the renovation of Pacific Place in Hong Kong. As an architect he is interested in how a project can be made both useful and extraordinary by understanding the peculiarity of its physical and cultural context, by challenging the conceptual and material processes of its realisation, and through a dynamic collaboration with other professions and stakeholders from client to user.
