Introduction Matthew Gevers is Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), teaching urban design. He combines his work at CUHK with leading the Urban and Landscape Design team as Chief Urban Designer in Arup’s Hong Kong office with a special focus on South East Asia.
He has over 14 years’ experience in complex integrated planning and design projects. He has worked in multiple scales, from large scale strategic masterplans to streetscape enhancements. He has a particular interest in the combination between landscape and urban design.
Matthew has led the strategic planning and design on high-profile public and private sector projects in Europe, Middle East and Asia, delivering the spatial planning for projects in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan and several locations in South East Asia. Projects range from economic masterplans and new town plans, to detailed urban design guidelines and precinct design.
He has a long track record in leading masterplans for Development Banks in Asia Pacific, including projects for ADB and World Bank Group, including a Tourism Development Strategy for Fiji, and IPIF1 in the Philippines.
