BiographyProfessor Helen Chan’s research interests focus on end-of-life care, gerontology as well as care ethics. She has conducted a number of research projects on promoting palliative and end-of-life care, especially advance care planning, among older adults and people with advanced progressive diseases. She received the Association of Commonwealth Universities Titular Fellowships – Hong Kong Jockey Club Fellowship in 2017, Young Investigator Awards at the 5th Hong Kong Palliative Care Symposium in 2008 and at the 19th Hong Kong International Cancer Congress in 2012 in recognition of her outstanding research capabilities.
Currently, Professor Chan is an editorial board member of Journal of Nursing Ethics and Asian Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics. She is also a co-opt member of the Education Committee of the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and a council member of the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology. Moreover, she has been appointed as Honorary Advisor of Elderly Service of the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, the Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing and the Jockey Club CADENZA Hub, and Associate Professor (by courtesy) of the CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing.
