1988、1991年分获四川大学生物系微生物学学士、生物化学硕士学位, 2002年在广西大学动物繁殖研究所获得博士学位,随后赴日本近畿大学(Kinki University)农学部动物繁殖及发育生物学研究室和美国北卡大学教堂山分校(University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)基因治疗中心进行博士后工作。主要参与了二十多项国家和地方级科研项目,包括“863”重大专项、国家转基因生物新品种培育科技重大专项、国家自然科学基金、国家留学回国人员基金、广西科技厅和教育厅项目等。近年来主持国家自然科学基金项目3项、转基因生物新品种培育重大专项重点项目子课题“转基因水牛的研究”、省部级项目7项,获得广西高校优秀人才项目资助。在国内条件下,摸索建立了一套较完整且效率较高的利用慢病毒载体进行转基因水牛生产的方法,并于2010年12月成功获得了世界首例慢病毒介导的转基因水牛。发表学术论文八十余篇,SCI收录30余篇,获得广西科技进步二等奖2项(2004;2009)和三等奖1项(2004),获授权发明专利6项。
