研究方向植物水分利用效率提升进化形成过程。沿进化时序,证实了石松类、蕨类植物未进化出,而裸子和木本被子植物进化出脱落酸诱导气孔关闭的通路及功能(Gong et al. 2021, Plant Physiology;等),并形成了减少失水、提高水分利用效率的适应性机制,助力树木演变成为森林植被中的“霸主”(Yang et al. 2021, New Phytologist;等);研究结果发展了树木干旱适应性形成的理论体系。
植物适应干旱生境的水力机制。提出了树木通过提升叶水导有效性和安全性,来适应干旱生境的水力新机制 (Yao et al. 2021, New Phytologist;等);揭示了树木演化出等水和变水水分利用策略,以分别适应新疆北部和内蒙古中部不同降水特征的新模式(Yao et al. 2021, Plant, Cell and Environment;等);发展了树木干旱适应性提升的理论体系。
植物适应旱后复水的气孔开放机制。首次发现旱后复水条件下,树木通过乙烯调控气孔开放的新机制,并提出了其普适性(Yao et al. 2021, Plant, Cell and Environment;等),研究结果以封面文章发表,被认为是该领域的重要新发现和理论创新。
