基本介绍陈志明（Tan Chee-Beng），人类学家与东南亚研究专家，国籍：马来西亚，1950年出生于马来西亚柔佛州，1974年毕业于马来西亚科技大学，获社会科学学士学位，1976—1979年就读于美国康奈尔大学，并先后获得人类学硕士、博士学位。毕业后曾任教于新加坡大学和马来亚大学，1996年至2012年任教于香港中文大学，其中八年担任人类学系主任。2012年9月，陈志明博士被聘任为中山大学人类学系的****。

研究方向族群，文化变迁与认同；族群关系；原著民/少数民族与发展；侨乡与海外华人；华人宗教；饮食与文化。研究区域包括东南亚（以马来西亚为主）和中国（华南）。所研究的群体包括马六甲的峇峇、马来西亚的华人社群（吉兰丹和登嘉楼的华人、沙巴州的天津人等）、沙捞越的巴登根雅人（Badeng Kenyah）、福建泉州的巴厘华人、香港的印尼华人等。
