个人经历
1985年7月毕业于湖北大学生物学系（获学士学位）；1988年7月中国科学院南海海洋研究所（获海洋生物学硕士学位）；1991年12月中山大学生物系（获理学博士学位）；1992年4月至1994年12月任中山大学生命科学学院讲师；1995年1月至2001年6月任中山大学生命科学学院副教授；2001年7月至今任中山大学生命科学学院教授、博士生导师（2003年起）。期间1996年1月至1997年1月，访问英国Exeter 大学生物系；2004年8月至2005年4月访问英国自然博物馆，2008年9月至2009年12月在美国康捏迪克州的绿色世界营养与健康研究所做为客座研究教授。

学术成就
在鱼类寄生虫的分类、生物学和生态领域发表研究论文90多篇（其中60多篇为国际SCI期刊论文），多次被邀请在相关国际大会做大会报告，在国际学术界相关领域有广泛的影响。具体包括：1、基于形态学和分子系统学研究建立了嗜尖吻鲈属（Laticola）（Systematic Parasitology, 2006，63）；通过收集和研究世界各国拟合片虫属（Pseudorhabdosynochus）的相关标本，对该属许多种类进行了重新描述和更正（Systematic Parasitology, 2005，62）；对存在许多混乱的异本尼登虫属（Allobenedenia）进行了系统地比较、整理和修订（Systematic Parasitology，2004，59）；2、首次克隆和表达单殖吸虫纲动物（枚氏新本尼登虫）的免疫相关基因--组织蛋白酶L样半胱氨酸蛋白酶基因并进行部分功能研究（Aquaculture, 2007，269），是进一步研究单殖吸虫的免疫机制的重要基础资料；3、对我国沿海多种海水鱼类及其寄生单殖吸虫的系统地理学模式研究，发现我国沿海的鱼类和它们的寄生单殖吸虫有一致的系统地理模式，即宿主和寄生虫在中国沿海分成两个支系，但不与样本采集地关联，这说明寄生单殖吸虫随宿主一起经历了冰川期的种群分离（到两个大的避难水域）和随后的种群汇合，但还没有足够时间形成种群地理结构；4、对引进我国养殖并已经在自然水体形成入侵的罗非鱼的种类及其寄生单殖吸虫进行了系统的研究，发现多种随宿主进入我国南方水域的寄生单殖吸虫种类。有些种类（如丽鱼三代虫）具有明显的致病性。
