Profile:


Patrick (Peng Zhang) graduated fromPennsylvania State University with an MA degree in Teaching English as a SecondLanguage (TESL). Before joining Shantou University, Patrick taught courses suchas Composition for American Academic Communication, Building ConversationalProficiency, TOEFL Listening, and AP US History in the US and in China.
During his graduate school years, Patrickwas an active contributing member of the Multilingual Writing and ResearchGroup (MWRG), a study and research group aimed at promoting individual andcollaborative research agendas focusing on multilingual writing. He also heldworkshops for Penn State faculty and students on “Providing Effective Feedbackfor ESL Writers” at Schreyer Institute. His research interest includesSociocultural Theory and Corpus Analysis.
Patrick believes that students learn alanguage best when they have many DIFFERENT opportunities to practice thatlanguage, and building mutual trust between students and teachers is the key toa successful and efficient class.
When not teaching, Patrick gets his green thumbs back and enjoys thecompanion of his dog, G?ng?n
