Profile:


For the first half of his life, Scott livedand worked in various cities around the US. After graduating from college, hehitchhiked across America and, later, traveled Europe by train, bus and boatfor a year. For the twenty years before arriving in Shantou, he lived in Kyoto,Japan, where he taught English to students ranging in age from 1 to 90, studiedJapanese and, while attending Japanese language school, met his wife.
Scott arrived at STU in 2010 and, sincethen, has taught in the English Through Art program, ELC’s special suite ofcourses for the art and design students of CKAD. During the same period, he hasbeen the director of ELC’s Center for Independent Language Learning (CILL). Thetwo positions have allowed him to pursue and apply a range of personalinterests: interior, graphic, webpage and curriculum design; drawing andpainting; cartooning and illustrating; writing prose and dialogue, woodworkingand cabinetmaking and a variety of other arts and crafts.
