Abstract:With the development of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology, NMR-based metabolomics has gradually become an effective approach for studying the metabolic response of aquatic animals to environmental change. As the sensitive species, aquatic molluscs are the important organisms in environmental monitoring, and significant progresses have been made. This paper reviewed the research progresses on the metabolic aspects of various environmental contaminants or stressors in aquatic molluscs based on NMR metabolomics technology, and mainly fouced on the metabolic differences among the various tissues in terms of metabolites and their concentration levels. The shortcomes of recent research and prospective future work on NMR-based metabolomics in aquatic ecotoxicology are also discussed.
