研究方向:  主要从事早期脊椎动物起源、演化及相关生物地层学、古动物地理学研究。在不断发现新化石的基础上,对古生代鱼类各大主要门类都作了深入研究,在古生物学这一基础研究领域多次发表有重要影响的成果,包括在英国《Nature》杂志上发表的8篇论文(含2篇Articles),在国际上赢得了较高知名度。近年来,带领课题组重点开展了对“硬骨鱼类起源与早期演化”和“四足动物起源”两大研究方向的探索,一系列研究进展与突破使我国早期脊椎动物学的研究工作继续成为国际学术界关注的重点。
