立足石器技术分析，探讨古人类技能、适应行为以及认知能力等方面演变，重建史前人类迁徙、扩散与交流历史。综合利用地学指标与考古指标，探讨旧石器遗址形成过程。野外工作主要集中在中国南方地区（珠江上游及长江中上游）。
