Abstract:
 I will prove the energy decay rate of the damped wave equation with convex-shaped damping. The main idea is to apply the microlocal normal form to average the damping along geodesics. This allows us to reduce the problem to the 1D setting. In the first one hour，I will introduce required tools in the semiclassical analysis for this problem (also for talk 3)，hence no priori knowledge on microlocal analysis is needed.
