中国科学技术大学生命科学学院特任研究员。1998年9月至2002年7月本科就读于浙江大学环境工程系。 2003年9月至2010年7月硕博连读于中国科学院上海生命科学研究院植物生理生态研究所,从事植物发育生物学研究。2010年9月至2017年12月于英国约翰﹒英纳斯研究中心(John Innes Centre)任博士后研究人员、2018年1月至2019年12月于剑桥大学塞恩斯伯里实验室(SLCU, Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University)任研究助理,从事植物-微生物共生相关研究。
在植物与根际微生物或敌或友的相互作用中,两种内共生对于植物根系获取生存必需的营养元素至关重要。约80%陆地植物与丛枝菌根真菌形成的丛枝菌根共生(Arbuscular mycorrhization)协助植物从土壤中获取磷、氮、其它微量元素和水分等;而豆科植物则还与根瘤菌形成固氮共生(Nodulation),并由此获取氮素。由于能协助植物获取天然营养,因此研究和利用丛枝菌根共生和根瘤菌固氮共生对发展可持续性绿色农业具有重要的现实意义和深远的战略意义。刘承武博士长期从事以上两种植物-微生物共生的分子机理研究,特别专注于豆科植物中固氮根瘤菌侵染的分子机理研究:发现豆科植物中首个调控根瘤菌侵染线极性生长的共生宿主植物特有的蛋白复合体(The rhizobial “infectosome”, Liu et al, 2019); 建立首个豆科模式植物蒺藜苜蓿根毛特异的根瘤菌侵染转录组(The “infectome”)并首次揭示生长素在根瘤菌侵染中的重要作用(Breakspear#, Liu# et al, 2014);建立豆科植物中首个根瘤菌侵染的基因调控网络并揭示转录因子NIN的关键调控作用(Liu# ,Breakspear#, et al,2019)。主要研究成果发表于Nature Communications,Plant Cell和Plant Physiology等期刊,广受同行专家关注和好评,其中infectome相关研究成果为ESI高被引论文、侵染复合体infectosome相关发现被认为“开辟了研究和理解根瘤菌侵染线发育机制的新领域”。
