We are affiliated with theDepartment of Physics&Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Quantum Technology and Device.

We are interestedin probing the unique physical properties of low-dimentsional materials with a particular focus and expertise on 1D materials and their heterostructures. We have developed (are developing) a wide variety of optical and electrical probing tools to study the new quantum phenomena that can arise from 1D materials, 1D heterostructures and mixed-dimensional systems. We love to grow low-dimensional materials and develop techniques for manipulation and preparation of high-quality and clean device structures that are suitable and indispensable for investigating the intrinsic properties. Sample and device preparation techniques include the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and van der Waals stacking combined with optical and electron-beam lithography. We also have rich experiences in isolating and identifying individual nanostructures such that the measured properties can be correlated to the structure directly. We have used and developed various optical spectroscopy techniques, near-field optical nanoscopy and low-temperature electrical transport to study and explore intriguing quantum phenomena arising from the nanostructures with high sample and device qualities. The spectral window we can optically probe span over a wide range from 400 nm to the mid-infrared. The near-field optical nanoscopy technique enables a 10 nm spatial resolution, well beyond the diffraction limit. Combined with the nanofabrication technique and electrical transport, we are able to perform the correlated studies, aiming to comprehensively understand the materials properties of interests.

PI 简介:Dr.Sihan Zhao became a tenure-track professor from Jan. 2021 in the Department of Physics, Zhejiang University (ZJU). He was recruited as a ZJU 100 Young Professor. He previously was a postdoctoral employee (2016-2020) working withProf. Feng Wangin the Department of Physics, University of California at Berkeley. He revceived his Ph.D. from Nagoya University, Japan (Dec. 2015) under the supervision of Prof. Hisanori Shinohara & Prof. Ryo Kitaura. He recevied his Bachelor's Degree from Jilin University, China (July 2010).
