　　主要从事植物分子系统发育基因组学、”iFlora”平台构建、生物地理学和保护遗传学研究。与本所同事首次提出新一代“iFlora”（智能植物志）的发展目标（集成现代植物科学、DNA测序、超算和云计算等技术、现代信息化手段和技术，构建综合数据库平台，率先制定植物的国际综合识别和评价标准），列为研究所“十二五”的重大突破目标，希望能够引领植物科学数字化发展方向，为国家和科研服务。开展盐肤木属和清香木属多个北温带间断类群的分子系统学和生物地理学研究，对北温带间断分布格局形成原因有重要贡献。主持国家自然科学基金海外及港澳学者合作研究基金、国家自然科学基金面上项目、中国科学院科技创新“交叉与合作团队”等10余项研究项目，参加国家重大科学研究计划、国家自然科学基金重点项目、科技基础性工作专项重点项目等10余项研究项目。在Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, American Journal of Botany, Taxon, Plos One等本领域主流期刊发表研究论文40余篇；参加编写专著1部，译著1部。
研究领域：
1. 分子系统发育基因组组学

　　利用核和叶绿体基因基因组数据重建被子植物，特别是蔷薇目及该目下蔷薇科、鼠李科、大麻科和榆科的生命之树，揭示主要支系和属种的分类范畴、系统发育关系，构建分类系统；探讨杂交、多倍化起源和演化机制；结合古地质、古气候和化石证据推断类群的起源，现在分布格局形成的历史，物种多样化历史限制和驱动因子。

2. 智能植物志“iFlora”

　　开展中国维管植物“iFlora”平台构建。以蔷薇目，及该目下蔷薇科、鼠李科、大麻科等类群开展DNA条形码和组学数据为主的Meta Barcoding研究，并完成相关类群“iFlora”平台构建。

3. 重要物种形成和遗传多样性保护

　　利用基因片段、SSR等分子标记技术和组学数据开展野生大豆、香水月季和翠柏等物种形成、谱系分化和遗传多样性分析。
