1982年1月毕业于西南交通大学应用数学系，获学士学位，1996年6月在中南大学数学学院博士研究生毕业，获理学博士学位。曾先后师从于陈庆益教授、李大潜院士、郭柏灵院士和侯振挺教授。曾任长沙铁道学院数理力学系副主任、教授，上海理工大学理学院院长（2002年6月至2009年2月），现任上海理工大学教授、理学院常务副院长。
曾作为主要成员参研完成国家自然科学基金项目3项，主持完成省部级科研项目6项。从事教育工作以来获省部级以上奖励或表彰9项，主要有：
(1)1990年11月获全国高校霍英东教育基金会青年教师奖;
(2)1993年12月获国防科工委科技进步三等奖
(3)2003年11月获“上海市高校首届教学名师奖”。
2.社会学术兼职
2002年起任上海市数学理事会理事、上海市非线性科学研究会理事。

非线性偏微分方程的理论与应用，孤立子理论，非线性系统的理论与应用。
