This course covers the basic concepts of information-technology-enabled business transformation. On the conceptual side, it will provide an overview of how businesses transformation. On the conceptual side, it will provide an overview of how businesses have transformed globally using information technologies and provide an enterprise IT framework base on business operations. It will utilize relevant business strategy, organization, business process concepts to examine their relationship with IT and how effectively utilize IT to deliver business value. The course introduces Internet, e-business, digitization of the firm's assets and processes including Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply China Management, and Customer Relationship Management. On the managerial side, it will examine how information technologies are playing critical roles in process reengineering and transformation of businesses today, how change management plays a key role in IT implementation, and how to effectively manage an IT function in the enterprise. The emphasis of the course is to provide students with a managerial understanding about the key issues facing the effective management of information technologies for the transformation of business and operations to create value and competitive advantages both globally and locally within China.
