研究工作Mymajorresearchinterestistolookforfunctionalhumangeneticvariationsandtounderstandtheirbiologicalmechanismandevolutionaryroles.Genetically,Peopledifferfromeachotherbyhundredthousandsofsmallgeneticvariations.Asmallfractionofthesegeneticvariationsaffectfunction.Theymakeusaphenotypicallyverydiversespecies.Suchphenotypediversityoccursamongpopulations,suchasskinpigmentationandlactosetoleranceinadulthoodetc.;andalsobetweenindividuals,suchasstature,weight,psychologicaltendencyanddrugmetabolism.
Tounderstandthesefunctionalgeneticvariations,twostrategiesaretobeapplied.Thefirstistodetectandcharacterizeevidencesofpositiveselection.
Thesecondstrategyistouseassociationrelatedapproaches.
