Narrative Biography
Nayoung Heo is a postdoctoral researcher of the international migration pillar in the Asian Demographic Research Institute, Shanghai University. Her research interests include factors and consequences of marriage migration, multicultural children, socioeconomic standing of marriage migrants, and demography of South Korea. Her Ph.D. dissertation focuses on academic achievements of multicultural students compared to non-multicultural children in South Korea. Currently with Guy Abel she is looking into internal migration flows by marital status and gender to examine characteristics of internal migrants across more than 60 countries, as well as social and economic adaptation of Chinese and Japanese marriage migrants in South Korea.
